www.thechampionship.com.au/in-a-nutshell.htmlPart of me hopes it does succeed, but I do have my doubts. I did note APIA is putting itself forward as a leading candidate. I am curious how big the crowds will be if they don't coerce parents and their playing children to attend the games, as has been their practice.

I've said all along ( Omg2 please note again), the concept is a good one but the "bid" is being led by the wrong people. You dont get people ( in this case the FFA) to partner with you if every time you make a comment it is riddled with negativity, combativeness and "us v them". The wars of the past need to be left well and truly behind and that may mean not being led by the fallen Generals from the last A-league war 10+ years ago.

Apia, leading candidate. Ye,, good luck with the B-League. If that's the sort of clubs that will make up the B-League I know what the "B" stands for.

Taking a leaf out of the Southern Expansions PR would do no harm. Compare the approaches, one is particularly professional and presents a positive message.

And we come up with these terrible - Geography specific names, instead of thinking of ways to market a club name......"Inner West Sydney FC Tigers" for the B League, come on even worse than Sydney FC, how about making it local and empower the community.... Lambert Park FC, is a starting point, come on! We are so generic with these names, WS, CC, etc.... how do you expect your local suburbs to believe in a club if its not localised, take a leaf out of the EPL, no teams have such corny name, Inner London, West London, London Fc...

Our emblem will be a horses head. I've just realised I'm a marketing genius.

To be fair and believe me, it's not easy for me to be that when it comes to this club, people aren't going to watch APIA now, so they have to try something in terms of naming. My best guess is they could source funding for a season or two and then finally confirm that there really is no future for the vast majority of NPL clubs aspiring to A League. It would be great if it could work, but it's going to be a long time before we can accommodate extra A League teams successfully, let alone a national based B League.

enmorecat,
An almost impossible task. There are too many clubs. Where would you start. Who would be chosen to make up the competition. Money ? Would the support base of some of the A-League teams drop because some people would go back to support their original clubs ? Relegation and promotion - what if a club with poor financials gets promoted ?

The A-League is reliant on television rights. The dollars involved need to dramatically increase to have have a sustainable competition. Unless you convince Fox that your club will increase television audience in a meaningful way you have no chance of promotion to A-League.
Imagine a scenario where Melbourne Victory are replaced by Leichardt United or Tempe FC and what it will do for tv audience ...laughable?

It can happen.... who has the money can apply, just like US system. But, there should be no reliance on SCG trust stadium monopoly, and all clubs should work it with local councils (again see US NBA), none of our so called AL clubs own their stadiums, nor have a home facilities, to train and develop player bar Melbourne City possibly. There is part of the problem, the other is FFA not expending funds properly, too much wastage on logos, website, emails et etc IMO

If Tempe United can bring a greater number of television viewers to the game than Central Coast or Newcastle (now recognised along with Gold Coast and Townsville...and every other regional city as being too small an area to hold an A-League license) then they're in!
