A few points: - Morris Iemma suggests that SFS has not made an impression in the shire and Kogarah area. Though since becoming aware of Southern Expansions bid have tried to play catch-up and connect (very Syd FC - start a club and fans will just come) - the NRL mergers quickly became takeovers (St G/Illawarra became St G and Western Suburbs/ Balmain quickly became Balmain). Slightly different scenario imo...not trying to merge independent clubs but a region. - I am told Wollongong people are (rediculously) parochial and unlikely to support anything but a stand alone Wollongong/ Illawarra team.
-There appears to be a level of professionalism about the bid that doesn't seem to exist amongst the B League brigade
Time will tell...

Merge Illawarra with St George and the Saints will wear the Illawarra socks.

This is the problem when we try to merge areas, clubs should be localised to build identity, culture and passion, and make it easy for travel, not this NRL style. Football is successful when localised and who said we need 10k attendances, I’m happy with 5-6k vocal local passionate fans in intimate stadium ...

Like ES Marks field, Sydney City's old home ground. I remember one very intimate occasion at the ground when the supporters of one visiting club were being harassed by a group of Sydney City skin head fans. Well, things got very intimate halfway through the second half when the skin heads started running for their lives with the visiting supporters right behind them closely followed by the police. Ah, the good old days. God I miss them.

We don't need another Sydney based team, the numbers just don't stack up. If another team is to be introduced from NSW it needs to be a regional team. SFC have been outstanding the last 2 years and still struggle to get a crowd of 15K, while the numbers attending Wanderers games are heading south big time, brought upon by using the Showground as a home ground and the terrible attitude of some of it's supporters.

Tell that to the people who count - sponsors ( television). If Sydney with 5 million people can’t have a third team then no Regional area with in the vicinity of 300k can even come close. Television viewers drives the $s in the game...( for the 3rd time)😜

There needs to be 12 Professional teams within NSW/ACT alone.
Newcastle Jets (Self explanatory) Central Coast Mariners (A name change to something a bit more appealing than Mariners would be nice) North Harbour (Representing Manly-Warringah, Northern Suburbs and Gladesville Hornsby. Home games to be shared between North Sydney Oval and Brookvale Oval) Sydney FC (Representing Eastern Suburbs/South Sydney) St George - Sutherland (Self explanatory, home games shared between Shark Park and Oki Jubilee) South Coast (Self explanatory, home games at WIN Stadium Wollongong) South West Sydney (Representing the Liverpool to Macarthur to Camden regions, home games at Campbelltown Stadium) West Sydney Wanderers (Representing the West Sydney strong hold, Fairfield, Edensor Park, Bonnyrigg, Mounties etc. Home games to be played at the new Parramatta Stadium) Greater West/North West Sydney (Representing Parramatta to Hills Districts to Blacktown to Nepean/Blue Mountains. Home games to be played at the new Parramatta Stadium, possibility of some home games to be played at Penrith Stadium) Canterbury - Bankstown (Self explanatory, home games to be played at Belmore Oval) Inner West/West City (Self explanatory, home games to be played at Leichhardt Oval) Canberra (Self Explanatory)

Are you setting up franchises for Gloria Jeans ?
Pick football teams based on footballing results, and setup franchises according to business best practices.
Business and accounting decisions don't guarantee footballing success.
