Unfortunately television rights payments will reduce, meaning all teams in the League take a haircut, if an NPL club with a few hundred members and representing Leichardt (for example) get promoted. Apia would survive in a promotion and relegation model as would most of the NPL club's. They run their club's on a shoestring budget compared to A league club's and would remain competitive. Where's A league clubs push nonsense gimicks like apps, player GPS, extreme fitness, NPL club's would and do worry about their football and their culture. Having said that football is a business and if allowed NPL club's would affiliate themselves with other professional outfits to move players abroad early on rather than give them to A League clubs. And to affiliate with professional teams you first must be professional which none of the NPL club's are. Dyslexic's Untie

Sydney Olympic recently completed the transfer of George Timotheou to Schalke through their connections. Some NPL clubs are professional enough to be able to nurture talent and then move them on.

Yes they did but the training compensation is the same as selling to an A league club due to being non Professional

Sydney Olympic will receive a bonus if he can make the first team, and will also receive a percentage of any future transfer fee. This is the difference between a league and o/s.

All NPL clubs have to do is affiliate with a pro club o/s and they have first dibs on potential players. There are many clubs o/s who are happy to spread their tentacles across the globe. A few $$ from cashed up European clubs to assist is nothing to them.
