Isn't that the same as kids at the sports schools getting in to wsw and syd fc because of their affiliation? same as kids who were at fnsw institute, failure to progress the kids in these programs shows a program that has failed, as such selection is almost guaranteed.

My son this year has played 3,4,6,8,10,9,and 7 so I'm sure his getting to know his positions well dyslexics untie So does every number represent a position now? So what happens when a coach can't count and that's plenty of them, let alone have a good command of the English language. Oops I'm a racist

In fact that'd be no different to all walks of life...just need to deal with it.

Noway... You may be on the money for one such sports high school that has NO OFFICIAL affiliation to a HAL Club... The other has three representatives that are obviously non-AIS players in the Joeys...it is part of that schools job now to assist those lads to keep progressing to older rep groups if not simply to make a living out of the game.

Deteriorating literacy and numeracy in Oz...ahh that'd be the education system! Moreso the parents who provide kids with mobile phones whereby kids have developed their own lazy language with it's own interpretation of spelling LMFAO BRB

Maybe the education system needs more RAE's... No, just new "coaches". I think the vast majority of teachers are good, where the issues arise more often than not is the ability and motivation levels of students. Socio-economic status perists as the best predictor of achievement of course. I'd be happy to hear Sherlock's thoughts on this given his background, but I reckon that the, "education" my generation (40-60 years of age) received was suitable for what lay ahead for us, but I think the current system perhaps is still evolving to meet the requirements of the under 20's. It could well be that given how technology has impacted, that literacy and numeracy will not be what it once was. I'm not saying it's right or wrong and it does affect the sensibilities of many, but the world is changing.

Numbers and spelling haven't changed...it's the way that they are presented to this new "i want success now!' generation...
Jobs have changed but the way we as individuals think hasn't evolved any differently...so we can learn the same core content then progress it through different electives then what we had years ago...e.g. the teaching of Latin and French and German has gone by the way side...
All of this is related to football...we need to teach the basic techniques (the core) and then branch out into the electives (the positions, the decision making processes or what can be summarised as skill.)
Football, as is school, a simple exercise made hard by stupid people...we have people in high places that over think things and then come up with a thought...and then make those below them believe that the thought is in fact a revelation but really is simply a justification of their position and their salary...and then try to get this revelation implemented until they can think of another revelation that continues to justify their position and salary and the cycle continues...
When really all we need is a player, a ball and someone that can educate them on how to use their body to control what it does and when to do what the bosy is trained to do to the ball...simple!

I'm told only one kid from the undefeated u14 met nth state titles team offered a trial (not selection) for state team. Yet FNSW tell us it is an 'essential' pathway. Yes, and that one kid goes to Westfield sports. Not saying he didn't deserve the opportunity to trial but only one? I'm wondering if the team was well and truly decided before the first game of titles even kicked off. That's football in Oz it seems.
