Exactly, they identified and excluded all other players from ever having any chance. They pick kids that all look and play the same. These kids and their parents all believe they've already made it.
The reality is none or perhaps just one of them will become a professional footballer.

Now 22 years old, where are the 2010 Joeys? How many are pro footballers? How many have really pushed on? How many are likely to be future regulars for the Socceroos?

The reality is none or perhaps just one of them will become a professional footballer. True but the level of player being developed is dropping at a great rate across the board and even you need to acknowledge that. The problem is we are looking at the same thing across the board now and the parents or athletic players are identified early and pushed on yet players with less speed but better brains are moved on to pasture. 12 months ago a player trailed for the new A league youth set up. He was here on holidays didn't make it and was emailed his report stating that he was a good player but nobody knew what he was doing and wasn't able to play the 4-3-3 structure. The player in question was this year named in the State team for his country in Europe which puts him in the top 320 U19s. So again we do have great players but we don't have the coaches to get them to the better levels of football due to a lack of game and football understanding which is why I complain about Coach licenses handed out with no football knowledge at all.

One phenomonom (?) surfacing is to identify kids with superior technical ability and game awareness.....and make them centre backs because that is good for the team (and importantly the coach). Some excellent examples around particularly at HAL clubs.
At 16 these players will fall well short of their potential.

BUT it's for the good of the TEAM .... isn't that what they get told ..
