A big hip hip hooray and well done to the Lord Mayor of Hunter getting one over Vipers yesterday.
Keep this up and you'll never know what may happen when venue naming rights come around next season.
All hail the King or should I say the "Lord Mayor".

Interesting game at Dural Saturday. Dural in the 16's were down 2 nil, with about 12 mins to go 2nd half they play the 5th man. The player replacing the keeper puts on the keepers away jersey (not his number on the team sheet)which was also the same colour as the team they were playing (green). 2-1 It gets better, after it was brought to the attention of the ref's the player was told he had to wear his away jersey. Should the goal scored be counted? The 5th player didn't play with his number on the team sheet, was wearing the same colour as the opposing team. Simple question If this happened to Dural what would happen??

Pick the keeper! Playing in the away strip is a problem and should not be allowed.

Referees have never been consistant with rules in regards to 5th man. Most times they dont stand firm with colours and numbers and it always creates problems. I watched a game once when the referee wouldnt let the 2 keepers on opposite ends of the court wear the same colour yet allowed a 5th player to come on wearing same colours as the opposite team?? Just dosnt make sense... Fnsw really need to think hard and come up with a solution as referees have no control of this. Eg. A special bib warn over the shirt that signifies to all that he is a flying goalkeeper is one example.
What amazes me is there were 3 referees and not one pulled up on it until the goal was scored.
On another topic, looking at mens results in state league.... Why have sutherland only played 6 games?

The referees should have known the process and enforced it; interesting though that Enfield had 2 players with the same number shirt on the score sheet, what did the 3rd ref do about it? I understand that 2 wrongs don't make a right. In previous weeks we have played teams with 13 players on the score sheet... Incorrect all round...

I don't know why we have the third ref sometimes, all they seem to do is tell the subs to put their bib on properly. They miss irregularities on the match sheet and only pick them up if the player in question scores a goal, they are always day dreaming when the second ball sitting next to them is needed on the court and they always seem to have problems operating the scoreboard. Wouldn't it be better if clubs could save their money and have a competent club official from each team sit on the scorers bench? They seem to do a better job of it than the paid third ref.

The problem is not so much the third referee, but rather the fact the games are back to back. There is simply not enough time to do a though job prior to the first whistle. Often the third ref is the person that just refereed the game before.
We allow ourselves 45 minutes per game. 2 x 20 min halves plus a couple of minutes for halftime. That leaves little wriggle room and as it is 99% of days run long. Of course the answer is to allow more time, but thats means longer court bookings and more money.
In a perfect world teams would have 10 minutes on court to warm up, then the refs could inspect equipments and numbers etc and managers could review id cards (and actually make sure players are there!).

Could the answer be more refs? Most teams do warm up, just not on the pitch. Maybe one more official to do the checking? I seem to remember doing it this way in another sport.

More Refs mean more $$ for clubs. Every team should have a manager that triple checks shirt numbers while the team is warming up.
