Based on the recent AFF U15 results our developmemt system is broken even after the introduction of A-league Academys. What next?

Asia doing something right. Brad Malone involved in the development program and the curriculum development for these programs. “Buggsy” was coached by and then mentored as a coach by the late David Lee; the man responsible for the programs that developed the Golden Generation”. So Malaysia did their homework and employed a knowledgeable guy with a massive work ethic and their investment is now paying interest... What do we do? Waste money!! I wonder how much juniors pay to play in Malaysia? I wonder how much coaches have to pay to be educated? It seems that in Australia we concentrate on player development instead of coach development (not just education). Development includes post-education mentoring and professional development.

Sherlock, there is a very serious all encompassing coach development program operating in the north. Rolling out a similar program across all Associations would be a big step in the right direction.

Having seen many of the NSW boys play 14,15,16,18 an even 20's in the last season or so, I am not sure what more could be done to enhance their development. A few of the boys are regarded by others outside the National set up as potential players of note, the cpt for example from Perth is highly regarded and played against Manchester United recently. Cassio's son plays as one of the front 3 and was player of the tournament at the National Titles. These kids are good!! Are there better ones out there? Maybe in some positions, but the squad they picked has some very good players in it. Having them in camp for a couple of days prior to tournaments is not ideal however.

For the last few days i Have been watching our U15's as a mates son is in the Squad and as Usual been disappointed. Cambodia were Average at best but i did Think Laos played better than Aust but physically weren't in the game. Then we come to Malaysia and the (Again) Un Proven and never struck a blow for anything Trevor Morgan put's his strongest team on the Park and we are out played, out Enthused and beaten where it count. On the Score board. Now all the players have GPS trackers, the squad has full Performance Analysts and 8 F'n Coach hangers on. When is FFA going to get it's head out of the sand and wake up!!!! All those players will now be looked at as basic over in Europe because we can't beet Low Level Nations!! It's a Disgrace. I know of 4 High level Euro Coach's that would and have applied to take National teams or and been told no we have the people in place. What a Joke!!! It was a joke, it shows how backwards we are going, all these PE teacher coaches getting these gigs. Give it to real coaches that coach the non FFA curriculum way. They say that the 15's team picked was the weakest ever in green and gold except for a couple of players. Who is they?

So not qualifying at this age puts us at risk of not qualifying to world cups in the years ahead. Not a reflection of the kids at all. Its down to the development pathway not generating enough talent and not at the level to be successful at a tournament we once dominated. Lets the hope governing body takes a serious look into this.

In my opinion we have the athletes. We need to reconsider the direction, administration and coaching methods of the youth setup.

Football has become an elitist sport in this state only for people who can pay the huge rego fees at a level where kids are looked at to be able to be selected
I always wonder how many talents are never seen because they can’t afford these ridiculous fees to fund 35yr olds 1st graders
Also, when you have coaches selecting on the basis of fair spread of HAL clubs and a quota of NPL kids instead of the best of the best available. Plus we really have a coach TM that is obviously out of his depth in both team selection and tactics
Here is the end result, we struggle with Asia’s lower ranked teams

If you think that players are not better than us athletically and technically you are delusional. Which player in the modern era is not also a good athlete?

Other clubs will waive fee's if need be.

How much did it cost the kids along the way prior to them joining the wanderers?
Clubs will wave fees? How many 1 or 2 players out of a squad of 100 from U13 to U16
We have become worse than Rugby Union as an elitist sport

How many 1 or 2 players out of a squad of 100 from U13 to U16 We have become worse than Rugby Union as an elitist sport As much as the parents could afford and if they couldn't all clubs would make arrangements to pay or find a suitable option to keep talent in the program. The lowest socio-economic region in Sydney is Western Sydney at its heart is now WSW charging zero. Its a cop out argument, the school system is another opportunity and NO player is ever turned away from representing any team due to economic reasons. The top 50 players of our golden generation were not living in poverty and then able to play at the highest level because it was more affordable.

Rubbish, stop trying to justify the in justifiable, so many kids lost due to financial constraints, Even the school system is biased when it comes to selections into football programs based on associations with HAL clubs or coaches with private academies
