Having been around the European football scene for the last 4 years I find the comparison that nswpl is comparable with the 4th tier of football in Belgium is laughable in the extreme. The middle of the table clubs in 4th tier would win the A league hands down. The difference in football knowledge would astound people. We look at the game backwards here. Our first priority is athleticism not technique.

Interesting to hear that perspective Whyme, I would wonder though given what you say, why it seems so difficult to find foreign players that consistently dominate here? All clubs have had players that really haven't worked out and if our standard is so poor, then I would have expected more of them to not just shine, but genuinely stand out. I assume A League average weekly earnings far surpasses Belgium division 4, so attracting players shouldn't be an issue.

He hasn't been swooning "around the European football scene" in the way Whyme has....

The A league get players from overseas to come hear that have done good things in other leagues but when they are coached by coach that thrive on fitness and not football you find the players trying to adapt to our style and failing. Ask yourself why Bessart B can't get a start in his national team. Why wasn't Fornaroli picked up in Asian or European club. Why don't the good European players stay for more than 1 year? Why couldn't Sydney FC beat average U19s in Italy when they went there for a pre season tour? Played 6 games. lost 4 drew 2. The fact is our coaching is bellow par. Ask Great Arnold, Didn't do a thing in Asia and sacked. Please open your eyes. I will look for a article written by the Brazilian who played for WSW and left. He complains that all we do is fitness and Popa had no idea about the game. 5 training sessions 4 were fitness and agility the other 1 was game play.

Genuinely interested in seeing the article, bearing in mind that players who are flicked tend to find excuses.

Rumour out of CCM A-League team is several players not happy with Okon's training - "all we do is small sided passing games". Oh yes, Italian heritage...😆
