Been busy Julio...pop in for a read every now and then...but it's like picking up a pre-loved book or playing an old record...same ol' same ol'.
That is, the whinge and the complaints are the same...the source of the complaints are always the same...the target of the complaints are always the same...the solutions are similar but have no means of being implemented as the primary objective of the punters solutions are usually to improve youth development and not to improve a bottom line or to feed an ego.
Kind of glad the three amigoes are into little athletics...there is no abuse of the referee...no coach playing favourites to any player/s due to any reason...no rift between club training and the pressure of being in a super development squad that will possibly get one of them a rep tracksuit...all three cost me approx $300 and there is no argument over rep selection each year as if my son is quicker than someone elses son, then he gets picked!
Golf clubs are the next step...similar to above but no pressure from parents on the side-line...so I can stay in the clubhouse, turn the phone off, read the paper and perhaps get some shut-eye!

We've been hearing stories of a European football club sniffing around the school football education training model lately.
Rumours, innuendo or scuttlebutt??? Hmmmm, it is not true that Reaper thought an innuendo was an Italian suppository!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Julio, One of the guys involved with the Arsenal FC Academy in the USA is spending three weeks here...interest is in how football works inside a school curriculum...interest in efficiency of educating players within school hours as opposed to outside of hours whereby there are so many constraints on the modern family who are time poor...
Hull City AFC are on a similar mission from 13th December...their head of youth will be here for a week.
Motivation is again is seeing how the program operates within the school curriculum...apparently there is a move towards clubs having their youth all at one school instead of kids taking a day off school to train...not sure if that is their actual structure but doesn't sound ideal for kids to time off school to train...
Will keep you up to speed...

That is a very sensible approach. How much easier would it be if all the players in a team went to the same school. Holidays, school excursions, school functions et al would be the same for everyone. Someone is on the right track!

Sherlock, Interesting observation about football/soccer in USA: Junior's mate recently won a scholarship in USA, where the college he's attends has a diff. approach to what we're aware of in sports high schools in Aust. Admittedly the college system is tertiary education, so the college heavily promotes the need for scholarship holders to complete their studies at a high academic standard, as well as continue in their chosen sport.
W.r.t football/soccer, the players are required to nominate a position that they are to specialise in as part of the college team. So the players then become exclusively position oriented rather than pliable & versatile in Aust.
Is that how you have seen the USA college system? Woulsd also be interested in former forumite Liverpool's reply.

Julio in UK they don't encourage two footed players either - if your a lefty then you play in positions down the left side - if your rightfooted then same again!! We in Oz encourage BOTH feet and thats why some of our better boys are favoured in trials - much more versatile.

Hopefully UK has improved. Judging by the GBP currency, UK has gone backwards though- Bring back Maggie Thatcher!! [Dennis signing off for now, time for tea! ;D] Seriously, balanced coaching of players with both feet started in 1960s/70s with 'Total Football' (Dutch, Rinus Michels), then Coerver Coaching. The most recent has been Simon Clifford from UK with Brazillian Soccer Schools franchises- so no cigar my friend!! ;D ;D

Sherlock, How did the visit of O/s coaches go at BP? Interested in how the US coaches differentiate their coaching regime with Arsenal UK coaching.

Absolutely...to summarise Year 7 2010 parents responses to why did you choose BPHS...it was academic performance of the school; the strong uniform code; the discipline of the welfare system. Then the diversity of the football program. This makes me proud to be at BPHS...with WSHS, football education in schools in the Sydney South West region is looking very healthy. Sherlock, have a look at this and let me know what you think please>>>> www.ted.com/talks/ken_robinson_says_schools_kill_creativity.html
