izitjuzme,
The coaches need good players to succeed. The players need good coaches to succeed. Sydney FC is lacking in both. Poppa would be out the door at another club. Wait until a few more WSW fans start jumping the fence when they get upset. Poppa will quit the club.

You forgot one other Kookooman.....clubs need good administrators ( far more important than what some of the more enthusiastic ones on this forum would like to admit). Wsw an example of a well run club ( well it was ), Sydney FC an example of one that's not well run. Mariners....mmmm the later perhaps?

tarzan,
Yes, I agree about the administrators. Syd Fc are a joke. I'm still upset about the 2 years wasted with ADP. They should just called it ADP FC because that's all it was. It sent the club backwards.

It sent the club backwards. ADP was the shining light for those 2 years. Frank Farina had no idea how to use him and the players around him had no idea how to run off him or play with him. The only player that could have played well with ADP was Nicky Carle and what did farina do, use him as a defensive mid, running all day, with nothing left in the tank to attack.
ADP even though he was slow, still took the piss out of the opposition when he wanted to.

stepover.
Let me tell you it's a very comfortable armchair.
fiik, there is an " outside Eastern Suburbs "
BOGANVILLE !
I like ADP but it was all about him. As if he would have taken notice of Farina. Come to think of it, I wouldn't take notice of Farina.

For your information, I do have a Syd FC shirt and I'm very proud to wear it. It's a beautiful blue shirt, not red and black.

Adelaide are the team to beat. Some very good players and a good coach. They play for him.

ADP was an absolute bonus for the A-League. He was definitely a half glass full / half empty though. Considering where we as a nation are, in terms of our short comings - his technical prowess was breath-taking and a real reference point for everyone, players , coaches and administrators. ADP was 39 (first year) and 40 in his last season - to expect him to physically compete and have the mobility of younger guys is naive. I've seen a lot of Sydney's past games Janko and Smeltz are very pedestrian also but without the class.
Kookybird - waste of 2 years? Check out these names
Pierre Littbarski Terry Butcher Branko Culina John Kosmina Viteslaz Lavicka Ian Crook Frank Farina Graham Arnold
I can count more than 2 years wasted amongst those names. Ironically the one that hung around the longest was the one that is also responsible for the current mess. Viteslav L. had an aging squad and with Gary Cole (Melb. Victory) provided no succession strategy. The young talent identified at the time was way short of the mark and I think only Seb Ryall, Ryan Grant and Terry Antonis are still around. Ian Crook faired no better with the talent he brought to the club too. The teams he put together were an embarrassment. Splashing so much on ADP and with the salary cap restrictions Farina was hamstrung by an inadequate squad in his first year. He also had numerous injuries to contend with in his second - Antonis- thigh, Grant- ACL, Boschart- perpetually injured, Emerton- back, Lucas Neil was also reg. injured. There is a lot of pressure on Arnold - he has compiled a squad of experienced players of his own selection. The players retained have been maturing for some years and are hitting their most productive years as players. He has had to contend with some injuries but really on closer inspection possibly not as great an impact as made out by the media. Nicky Carle was not playing regularly, Sasha Og. is 35 you cannot rely on guys that age week in week out. Cory Gamiero and Ali Abbas are considerable losses, however when Arnold was compiling his squad Smeltz, Janko, Brosque, Ibini, Naumoff - Gamiero was going to be spending time on the bench and really not with the same reputation as the others. Ali Abbass has been a big loss.
Kooky, Adelaide are a decent team and well drilled / coached. The sad thing is that the foreigners drive that team. Like ADP their technical sophistication and edge compliments their tactical awareness. As a nation we really need to start 'getting' that- we need to start focusing on developing well rounded technical players. I don't have a lot of confidence in the people that are driving a lot of the A-League teams. It really annoys me that it forces me to sound so cynical and negative. I'm usually a positive guy but tone75 put me over the edge. He mentioned ADP and Nicky Carle in the same sentence and ....and.... that shouldn't happen!!! Ever!! *#^k I've done it too, now. I best go before I hate myself more.

offdshoulder,
I agree with what you have written. I have never liked the "Marque" idea, Ok it worked with D.Yorke in the beginning but the SYD FC just keep relying on bringing big name players in and hoping it makes a difference. Yes ADP may have been a crowd puller, but what about after ADP. Now what, the players are getting older, injuries etc. Is there a plan or program for the future ? As far as Carle goes, he never played to his full potential although some of the coaches didn't utilize him well at all. Adelaide is full of foreign players, but do we have the enough good players here ?

I'm starting to feel sorry for the WSW. Poppa may be in trouble here. Difficult situation for all I believe. Asian Champs too last in the A-League. It seems all the success they've had in the last 3 years has just abandoned them.
