SAP coach I think you'll find the majority of Rizzo's students don't just attend his academy - the also play their NPL game every Saturday, and train 3x week, and most would also play for school.
I know a boy who attends Rizzo. He paid for last term in advance, as they do, but barely attended any Sunday sessions. Mum put her foot down and said Sonny needed a day off - not to mention spending time with family and possibly even doing a school assignment or study. Sonny trains 3x week with club with much travel involved, plays his YPL game, plays his school game on Saturday afternoon and also trains with his school team. So unfortunately for Sunny he can't really get anything out of Rizzi Academy at the moment.
BTW I saw some holiday camp photos on FB and all the boys looked very, very young to me. Maybe 11-12 at the most. Where are all the 13-16 year old boys - playing PS4 all holidays? What I will say though that a Rizzo holiday camp is an excellent idea for the younger ones - get those ball skills up to scratch, along with SAP they are probably doing, and we might make a World Cup Semi one of these days. Or at least a Quarter.

How much football can a kid play? For me training and playing 4 times a week is enough no matter what. Recovery and becoming involved in other activities / family is important also.

100 % correct Thommo, when you factor in school sport, school work & other activities one would think that 3 sessions plus a game at youth level would be enough.
Of course parents see their child as the next superstar, whilst there may well be some gems around statistics say that a minuscule number will "make it".

Didn't Rizzo coach at APIA, how did his teams go. Also it would be interesting for him to be given a mixed team of talented and average kids and see how he develops them into a team and be judged by middle of season.

Or at least a Quarter. biggles, i think you'll find what you are saying in the first sentence is what i said - My focus was more relating to questions on academies, etc - no academy or sports school has developed a player in this country! All the best products all played & train within the FNSW system plus usually have/or are playing futsal while usually sublimating any in addition with the school/academy! This does not reflect that FNSW system is better or worst just that it is the major system and focus of the game and once all treat it that way and work as one to develop our players we will have a chance to create world class players continually! Players still need a balanced life in addition to this so when you think amount of training that should be done 3 nights/game on weekend 35-40 weeks plus loaded with say futsal season with 1 night training do they really need school training and games along with academy? Two of those have to give if you really think about the long term of a child (overload/injuries) and choose which will give the best development! Me personally thinks NPL season with Futsal season really complements development for any player! Similar game but different! Overloading with the same only wears out and decreases the stimulation needed year on year especially upto 18's! Problem is finding the two clubs and two coaches!

Has there ever been a player developed by an academy or school without ever playing within the FNSW/FFA system until 18 year old?

Why is futsal important? If you say touch then why don't they play with a real football? Futsal is a totally different game. A good game but it is like comparing 20/20 cricket with a test match cricket game.

Sherlock it does have the benefit in that if you are able to master touch in tight areas it will be easier for you on the bigger field.

It's more a case of shopping your kid around for the coach's. Coach's see potential players for there age group the following year and parents shop there kid around so potential coach's can see. Would rather go on holiday than to sit in a hot room just so we can say he play futsal. Also if you don't see how futsal effects outdoor football in an adverse way you prove you are an amateur .
