Some people are like computers, ya keep punching the info in, but at the end of the day they still only understand 0 and 1. My point was Tarzan, overseas parents DONT pay $1500 to get what Aust calls SAP - they get that, nay demand that for their NORMAL reg fee. Can you imagine, try I realise it may be hard, the potential if Aust trains 210,000 or 420,000 instead of 2100??? SAP, as you call it should be the standard at ALL clubs. Imagine if all kids from 3/4 through to 11 received that as they do overseas??? But then, where's the profit in that??? (if you don't know where it is - it's in the future.....) As for my words being "No demand" -think you may need some reading glasses Tarzan - I quote " not sure the demand is there"...

How many times have you seen a dad (or mum) with no coaching experience put their hand up to coach their child's team only because no one else wants to do it (and without a coach the team will be withdrawn)? Imagine if all park junior teams, at least div3 and higher, had "proper" coaches? It would essentially be a sap type program for the masses. All players should be acquiring skills, not just the ones that can afford an academy. Our local park club had 1300 members when my sons went through there, its sad that most of what they learn is self taught. The kids that have a real coach are luckier than they realise.

Your using my quote and taking it as your own old boy.....read again and you may see that it was you that said " no demand" not I......uh? There's a difference between not sure the demand is there ( ie enough demand) and your reference to "no demand". The subtleties of language....

Yes, yes it would be wonderful to have many more thousand given free football development - unfortunately Gough Whitlam is not around to hand out freebies ala uni fees and Medicare. Wouldn't it be great if housing was free and food, water and electricity......perhaps even clothes?
When you have a system that is free you have: - a system that is not sustainable and will eventually fall over, or - a system that is paid for by others, or - a system where someone is making a profit indirectly out of the excercise and can therefore provide it for free ( many oseas operate on this model)
Which one do you believe can operate in Australia right now?

Free? Who said free? No-one. If you pay reg fee you should EXPECT to be taught how to play. That is the only reason for a football clubs existence. To teach football. The "profit" will come from having far more players with better skills, one could then extrapolate that into more satisfied participants (less likely to jump codes) and therefore as numbers remain higher we get more coaches, administrators AND players who are paying rego fees (aka profit - as that appears to be your primary goal Tarzan - a true capitalist). I will say it again for the umpteenth time - it's a numbers game - teach few, get few results. Teach many, get more results.

Unfortunately if the investment ( and importantly the ROI) were that simple we'd all be putting our hard earned into it...IT AINT. You need to be prepared to carry losses for many, many years....and thats not sustainable in Oz at the moment. As the game builds it may/will be.

If your local club has 1300 members and little in the way of organised coaching then you should be asking your committee what the hell they are doing with all the rego fees and canteen takings !!

mary,
Even if a club has plenty of members, come trial time finding coaches is a hard job. I find it's getting harder to find coaches each year.

mary, Even if a club has plenty of members, come trial time finding coaches is a hard job. I find it's getting harder to find coaches each year. I disagree. If decent structures are in place there is more likelihood that members will want to learn to be a coach. A club with 1300 members should have a decent coaching structure and support. Maybe apathy reigns in your neck of the woods and they would rather be at the beach !!

mary, mary,
I give my opinion and you insult me. Long live the Eastern Suburbs. Actually your statement is probably correct and there is plenty to do and see over here compared to over there ( out yonder way ). You must admit choosing between the beach and football whinging parents is an easy choice, for me anyway.

Beach football, bikinis, sun, surf, lattes, good food, civilised people and beautiful views to name a few. I suppose, cows, grass, more grass, trees, manure, goats, are Ok if you like that sort of thing.
