I think that the Futsal department at FNSW are asleep at the wheel on a few fronts.

You could be right George and only time will tell.
Anyway, they will only require 13 coaches, if what we read about restricting team entries is correct, so they shouldn't have any problems filling that many spots.

Its just not practical to "scout" for players at State Champs.
Coaches within the age group tend to have the best knowledge of players, but the risk is they pick their own players. This could be overcome by having a selection panel from multiple clubs.
They should appoint coaches early so they can watch as many normal season games and ideally have exposure to the age group at the Nationals the year before.
The real failure is that a players performance at Nationals (year in year out) counts for nothing under the current system. The concept of coaches NOT coming from the age group can result in strange decisions at the trials.

Interesting how they highlighted '2 teams' and I suppose that they meant 2 Metro teams. Do we know who our Futsal State Technical Director is?

Girls/Women has been reduced to 12, 14, 16, Youth and Women, so presuming 2 teams per age group, we would be back to Thunder and Lightning from NSW, but still losing the 11, 13 and 15 age groups. Boys have also lost 11s.
Waiting to see if Southern and Western NSW advertise for coaches too.
Very interesting to see how it all pans out. Get your applications in coaches: they close on 26/10/12 :-)

If western and southern didn't go, would it be worth going? Considering the fact that some years you get very few teams from other states.

A very valid point. Unless FFA puts their foot down, and insists each member state sends at least 1 team per age group, you can guarantee that there will be age groups that struggle to attract enough entrants. Can't see FFA making compulsory Futsal teams happen. If its going to be NSW V the rest of NSW it's not proving much, except NSW likes Futsal Lets hope that by combining the girls age groups, as composites, it may allow the other states to field competitive teams in all those age groups. Perhaps that's what FFA is hoping?

There should be teams from ACT, VIC and QLD in all age groups for girls. Doubt if we will see any Tassie, WA or NT teams though. I guess there will be the odd SA team but not in all age groups. It would be good if all the female age groups had 2xNSW, Southern, Western, ACT, QLD, VIC and 1 other.

I'm hearing that NSW may have reversed their decision about 2 teams per age group, but watch out for an increase in 'Western' teams. Anyone else heard any more?

Can anyone confirm whether the 16 girls are playing at Penrith or Windsor? I spoke to a lady today who's daughter is playing at Windsor and tonight I get a txt to say my daughter is playing at Penrith. Surely they can't be split!!!

Surely they can't be split!!! 14 and 16 girls have been shifted to Windsor George. Email came out last week to clubs and draw is up on FootballNSW website. Too many junior games at Penrith, apparently games would have been going to midnight, so Windsor was the best answer.
