I doubt that FNSW would directly make them choose. But indirectly it has already started in a less obvious way. First a 10 month training plan for outdoor and now a 4 fold decrease in the the youth girls and 2 fold decrease in the boys for the Futsal nationals. The trend becomes more obvious in the 2013-2014 Futsal season.
I think eventually the restrictions on organising outdoor trials and games in Futsal season would be lifted and the Futsal season would become longer than the mere 14 rounds (or even less for Super). This is all a guess though.

A few years ago Storm won. 2011 lightning U16 girls won with 3 u15 players and one girl down. U16 lightning boys also won that year. I think a lot of girls will definitely drop out and go to Vikings though. Not to mention this year the 15 girls lightning won

With these changes Especially in the girls side of it no siper league players will get in, the appointed coaches (whom have probably been promised jobs already) will all be from premiere league and they will take their favorites. Probably find closed trials again.

Close bindi666 ,no coaches have been appointed yet but the coaches who will apply for the positions will have players in mind .Some thunder teams have super league players in them and lots of super league clubs have great players and coaches let's wait and see

That is fine that Fnsw is trying to bring Futsal in line, which is fine if there is an investment into the country areas. If there is a Southern Nsw - Northern Nsw which dropped off last year & a Western Nsw that is competitive that's fine. If you look at Outdoor set up they have two groups with most age groups 7 teams groupA & 6 teams Group B. So really there is 4 Nsw teams in every age group, which is similar to Futsal IF ALL OTHER states compete. FUTSAL however at a National level is way behind, just look at the F League which is run by Football Nsw. Great idea but it needs to be supported by all states.
I have been going to Football Nsw as a Coach for 29 years but if all the talent is not on show why would I spend thousands of bucks to get myself there & leave my Family at home when in years to come if this is not supported it will Fizzle. This year I may be only the third year I have not gone too Futsal Nationals as a coach. The difference is this time I will be taking my family on a Holiday & not like the 2years I missed when my KIDS were born. Over the years most coaches were guys who were parents & there son / daughter were players, how many of those will go now there only 1 team from Metro unless we have two metro teams like outdoor with Metro & Metro south.
I really not being negative !!! I am just using my Futsal knowledge, which obviously the people behind a desk have failed miserably to do..... Words From a Futsal passionate !!!

Good points cottss. I don't know why our National and State bodies feel the need to bring Futsal 'in line' with outdoor. They are 2 different beasts !! Outdoor National Championships are all about talent identification and winning for your state comes second. It is all part of a path to become Socceroos or Matildas. There is a body of opinion that NSW Metro should field 2 teams in these championships because of the sheer numbers and talent in this area. Is it really fair that NT (population 100k?) sends the same number of teams as Sydney Metro (population 4m). Crazy !!
Best not to align Futsal with outdoor as the objectives are not the same (Australian women's Futsal team anyone?)
Perhaps 'contracting out' Futsal to the Vikings is now looking like a more attractive proposition given the lack of direction from our National and state Bodies.

MT: "Australian women's Futsal team anyone?"
Can't see one in the foreseeable future but I pray I am wrong. We have had some great womens players over the years with no recognition from national bodies.

We have had some great womens players over the years with no recognition from national bodies. Correct fiik, the talent is definitely there. For example, a current Matilda has siblings playing elite futsal terrorising opposing teams with their skills as there is nothing higher to achieve or aim for in futsal- a real pity.

I must admit though that the Australian women's team situation is a little out of our hands as few countries in our area have women's teams. Even the Vikings Australian Women's team struggle to get meaningful fixtures.
My point is still that National Futsal Championships should be a pinnacle in their own right, not just a copy of the outdoor 'National Identification' Championships. For the majority of players there should be no greater thrill than winning for your State, and I still see no problem in Futsal in having 2 teams per 'state' given the squad sizes, population etc.

There's going to be a lot of disapppointed kids comes nationals trials time if they stick with one team each age group. I think they should leave it as it was.
