Can anyone explain how can refs in Bathurst be so one sided in favour of the local team. Its my Sons 1st year in SYL, and for the past few years i have heard so much about refs in Bathurst being so one sided its was bordering on comical. Finally My son and i got to witness 1st hand, what all the fuss was about. Well i can honestly say, its an absolute disgrace what goes on in Bathurst, any team visiting who walk away with points should be awarded double points by Football NSW, because unless you score from long range, its almost impossible to score from up close or put on any passing moves, the officials find a free kick favouring the home side in almost every case. Does anyone else feel the same way or is it an optical illusion. Interested in some feed back. Does Football NSW have any idea on the blatant injustice that takes place in Bathurst. From what i saw yesterday and from what i have heard in the past. Mind boggling simply mind boggling I welcome Bathurst folks to come on and defend the un defendable.

My first experience with bathurst referees was in 1991, i heard the same rumours before i went there and also experienced it. A real disgrace.

Ahhhhh the problem that has plagued girls football also extends to the boys. So there is some equality after all.
The reffing at Bathurst is just atrocious.

I wonder if there is a record of the amount of penalties awarded to the local teams over any given year. i saw 13s and 14s play on Monday.. guess what, 2 penalties. guess who too? yep Bathurst. 13s to win 2-1 and 14s to snatch a draw. laughable. Anyway whatever.

Last time I went to Bathurst reffing was OK in the seniors. The refereeing in the juniors that day was atrocious. Ball was heading to goal and the keeper handled the ball deliberately outside the box. Not even given a yellow card

To say the decisions were blatant in the attempts to quash the visiting teams may be the wrong words however not very far off it though. In todays day and age of video's by mum, dad, Grandparents, coaches etc etc it would be a whole new forum just with links to examples of said oopsie moments by the officials. not saying that anything would ever come of it however the old saying, "a picture tells a thousand words".
Oh, and when the Bathurst officials / locals also say that the decisions were bad, well....................

Dont agree that Bathurst refs are that bad. Like all refs, the problem lies in how they are instructed as well as their interpretation of the Laws. Like it or not, yours truly has also seen some howlers, but that is how we make of it. Improve the instructions for consistency AND the interpretation of the laws for the refs & probably things will improve, but dont expect too much.

In the juniors, there is a degree of peer pressure (they know the players socially). I remember one ref once telling me at an out of town game that I go home after the game, they have to live there. I also remember one young lad who was making puppy eyes all game to one of the female players all game.

what adds to the problem is half the comp has to travel twice same as in Div 1 (Nowra)

azonda, yes records are kept and it seems that the home teams are penalized more times at home than away. As for the rest of you it is just sour grapes. Maybe you people should become referees and help out instead of whinging.
From reports from the home coaches, our refs are no worse than some those encountered on away trips.

Suggest you refrain from making such sweeping, emotional comments about fellow posters. On the flip side of yours truly's earlier post, below is a comment from a fellow parent in another age group with the girls: Over to you ballboy, care to comment on why a player would be given a straight red for jockeying??? From yours truly's perspective, something definitely needs to be looked, if only for the refs interpretations & instructions: Why is it so different to Sydney metro refs?
