This is a touchy subject so i expect if it is not going in the right direction the modes would stop it.
There is much talk about politicals in our youth league system and many suggestions on how to stop it from happening. Its easy to spot political players, they are usually out of their depth when amongst peers.
In the short time that i have been involved with youth league i have seen some very good young referees. I have also seen good referees who made mistakes here and there but were in control of the game. Unfortunately I have also seen the odd referee who was clearly not ready yet to do the level of the game they were doing which made me wonder if there are politicals in referees ranks.
FNSW is currently conducting a referee restructure review. I wonder if anything along this line is on the agenda.

Don't be silly. It won't be an agenda item as they will tell you there are no politicals.

There are no politicals at any level of the game. Everyone keeps telling me this so it must be true!

Of course there are. You would be a nutcase to believe there wasn't.

Nutcase is not the word I would use for you. Fruitbat is more like it.

Ok... the question on the thread is a rhetorical one. The real question is how do we deal with it or more to the point "stop it"?

Maybe if everyone stopped denegrating the game, other clubs, their own clubs, etc, and started pulling together with a common cause then things would get better. This forum is a microcosm of what I hear each weekend from many parents. Rather than all the negativity, a bit of positivity would go a long way to fix what ails your sport.

People have been trying to change the game. But when the people that run the game are only in it for themselves what do you expect will happen

woof,
I agree that positivity would help but its difficult to put a positive spin on corruption in the game. It happens at all levels and areas. Ignoring it only makes it worse and this forum is one of many places it should be discussed and debated. At the very least it sends a strong message to those who have a hand in it that their "misconduct" is being noticed.
As far as i can tell there are far less politicals in the referees ranks than you would see in the clubs/players ranks. IMO it probably has something to do with the type of people that the job attracts. You would need to have a certain dedication and love of the game to start refereeing in the first place and even more to continue with it.

In association level, politics is everywhere. At the higher level, the referees that are there deserve their position. At that level, state and A-League, you would be caught out straight away if you are not up to it.
