That is so horrible, condolences go out to his family, We almost lost our son 2 years ago to the same condition, His appendix ruptured at 3 am and they left him in a hospital bed until 12pm before operating where they literally had to remove the entirety of his stomach and hose out the poison. He was then cut open 2 months later from his chest to his pubic line from mistakes they had made and the poison remaining in his body and slowly killing his bowel. It is a horrible feeling to have your child lost at such a young age, i am lucky, i have a healthy ten year old boy now although he still has surgery every 2 years to stop his bowel adhereing to his scar tissue! My heart goes out to the family

Our deepest condolences to Jake's family & friends.
Not wishing this as a cliche, but football is a tie that binds. Some of us have lost football mates already- you're not alone.
