That’s fantastic in theory, but to be able to to size up a situation and make a quick decision, you need to at least have the basic tools to make it happen, the basic tools need to be demonstrated, taught and corrected over time to allow the quick decision making to be implemented
I’m sick of this fascination out there about playing in the park makes a great footballer, if that’s the case I see a group of Indian migrants in Pendle hill playing every sunday at the local park, they have been playing there for over 5-6 years, based on this principle, Arnold needs to send his scouts there to watch them and pick his next Socceroos
The kids don’t play in the parks anymore, when do they have time, most train/ play football 4-5 times a week, that is the playing in the park today
What we don’t have now, in this country at least is the structures in play to allow a player to excel like we did in the 90s-00s

Unfortunately when you only have around 4 hrs per week in club training, individual skills sessions are left to the individual.

the players that want more, should be allowed to stay back (under lights) and hit balls at goals (strikers) etc. At the moment, team training finishes, all packed up, lights out go home.... no club is doing overs, because there's nothing in it for them, and who suffers, are the players

I just thought Football NSW had put throw-ins in as another, "optional", item, with no sanction on the player other than losing possession.

Same for headers, shielding the ball, etc. All in the too hard basket so left for Dad (which over here means a serious Wallabies supporter)😁
