I am not sure I would be as effusive about the performance as Harper & Hill were, mainly because for all the possession, we didn’t actually force their keeper to make many saves at all. I guess that is the next stage of the process, getting that cutting edge right against, “better” teams. Irrespective, watching Australia play through the middle with so much confidence was great to see and Rogic and Mooy are proving themselves both to be highly effective in midfield. Dare I say it, it’s time for both of them to progress to better leagues to develop not just themselves, but to become even more pivotal for Australia.
Our flank play at times was good, but most of the crosses that were hit were easily dealt with and really that’s what your stereotypical English defender (aside from Dier it would seem) are most comfortable dealing with, hence why we attacked through the middle I guess. I think Kruse looked quite dangerous and clearly he received a lot of attention, but he probably needs a bit more help than what Maclaren provided. But, having watched him play for Perth Glory only a season ago, if you had told me he wouldn’t look out of place against England in an international, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.
Of the even younger brigade, good to see Ikomimidis and Degenek, both look to have a lot to offer.
I know it wasn’t England’s 100% full strength team, but on the basis of what we saw, it will be interesting to see how they handle teams which are a bit more effective in the final third as I am not sure the counter-attacking style will be enough against the cream of Europe next month. It could be that it’s not the strongest European Championship field in living memory, so perhaps they can get away with it, but if I was an English supporter, I might have wanted to see a bit more from my team, particularly at home.
Net net, a result I would have taken before the game, but having watched it, I do get encouraged that we are getting closer to having a pretty strong squad for the upcoming world cup qualifiers and beyond. Well done Ang!

I was impressed by our efforts today. However without Timmy up front we looked rather meek in the attacking third, and this is where you win your games. Overall though very happy...

Curriculum showing we are way behind. We can't score. Possession is great but no real attacking threat. Suprised the media hyping up our efforts although good weren't great considering no hart, walker, alli, Kane, vardy. Yes we didn't have Tim but relying on him (still) is ridiculous.

Harper and Hill would get enthusiastic about the proverbial 'S*** on a stick', but at least they weren't as miserable as the pair of Scots commenting on the FA Cup Final on ESPN.
Harper got excited about pretty much everything, but I guess that's in his brief and/or how he likes to spruik the game.
