Just watched the Champs Lge Madrid Derby between Athletico & Real, not impressed with the lack of control the ref had over the players. It seems that players at Spanish games push the boundaries of the ref's discretion: Raul (Ath) fouls Sergio Ramos who reacts badly & ref splits them but calls both players back to issue yellows. Raul walks away & refuses to come after several persistent calls by ref to come to him, & finally when together ref hands both Ramos & Raul yellows.
As the foul by Raul is deemed by the ref to be worthy of a yellow, the behaviour by Raul refusing to heed ref's call can be viewed as 'dissent', hence a second yellow = Automatic Red. Likewise would be Ramos' behaviour in refusing the come to ref.
Some time ago refs had a precedent set when a player left the field without knowledge/permission of the ref, & returned to field of play without ref's permission = yellow for leaving the field + yellow for returning without permission from ref = automatic red.
Your comments please.

Have you seen some of the rubbish that the A-League referees put up with ? They have been instructed to be more "understanding". In other words, tolerate more abuse. This behaviour by the coaches and some players is filtering down to junior levels and this is why we are loosing referees and people not willing to do it.

I would've thought it starts with the parents. Lots of dissent on the sidelines, kids are sponges.

It seems to be getting worse as well. Some parents and coaches are really over the top. It's a shame and probably turns off a lot of young children.
