Finally his career is back on track, and can only power to greater heights now that he has gone to play for a world class team.
Such experience with the horns may even help him lead the Aussies to lift the World Cup!

Show him the door, he's had his go. He was way outclassed at the last World Cup. What makes anyone believe he'll be better 4 years later and older ?

Its a weird thing with Lucas Neill, for unlike other senior Socceroos (and those recently retired) such as Tim Cahill, Mark Schwarzer, Brett Emerton, Mark Bresciano etc, poor old Lucas isn't really 'loved' here in Aus.
I guess he's been a bit arrogant at times and dismissive of emerging players, but that doesn't really explain it. Also, when people were talking about getting rid of the 'old guard' after those big defeats to France and Brazil last year, perhaps it was him carrying on like it didn't apply to him. Weird.
Obviously he's desperate to play in this year's World Cup, and who can blame him, but I guess he'll need a lot of game time to be considered. 35 is not too old for a central defender (look at Maldini, Baresi, or Distin at Everton right now) but he has been off the pace for a fair while now and obviously isn't getting any quicker.
Maybe if he is 'on the plane' he should react with a bit of humility at being selected, rather than carry on like he always expected to be picked? Here not being the player on the cover of all the soon-to-be published 'World Cup specials' would help.
Sad that while players like Schwarzer and Emerton will be remembered for going out gracefully, Lucas will probably be rememembered for sticking around too long!

No, not by the males out there. But I know a hell of a lot of women who would love to love him.

Well, he couldn't get into the Blackburn side, so I'm not so sure about the mighty hornets? I think you've been stung!

These players were good players who were humble with their success where as Lucas kept tripping over his massive ego which was always far bigger than his ability.

Watford can forget about promotion if he gets a start.

Watford can forget about promotion if he gets a start. Agree. I doubt too, that this will prevent his socceroo demise.

Lucas Neill bankrupt - www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/02/former-socceroos-and-west-ham-captain-lucas-neill-declared-bankruptFormer Socceroos captain and English Premier League defender Lucas Neill has been declared bankrupt in the UK. London-based insolvency firm Begbies Traynor were appointed trustees to the bankruptcy last week.
“Mr Neill is due to be interviewed when he returns to the UK in the coming weeks, at which point the trustees will be able to obtain the background information required to determine the full scale of Mr Neill’s debts,” Dale Hernon of Begbies Traynor said in a statement. “At this early stage of proceedings, it is currently unclear to what extent any funds will be recovered.”
The 38-year-old former West Ham skipper earned a reported $40 million across two decades in top flight football, appearing for the likes of Millwall, Blackburn Rovers, Everton and Galatasaray, while earning 96 caps for Australia and leading his country.
Neill had been involved in a number of high-profile investments during his playing career, including a US property portfolio and a coaching business in Sydney. Administrators say it will be some time until their investigations into Neill’s finances are complete, perhaps months, and that it is too early to establish the full extent of his debts.First Zelko, then David James then this guy - where does the money go?
