Following the new dropped ball changes in the other thread, from next year if tapes or shinpad holders are worn on top of the socks then they must be of the same colour as that part of the socks they are on. So be prepared.

How many people can I upset next year because of this? How many Referees' Associations will enforce it?

I would think that you will not be able to wear the ankle type socks unless they are the same colour as the sock covering the shin guard.

So, if you are refereeing an AA10 game on a Sunday morning and the players are wearing different shorts, but the same colour and slightly different socks. We are expected to enforce the different sock cover and strap rule. This will be good.

shinpad, There is also a similar law for undershorts and undershirts which most referees use a lot of common sense on enforcing it. I'm sure it won't be much different in this case. Horses for courses.

artie, the LOTG don't cover ankle socks. There is no mention of anklets being the same colour as the socks. Some socks have different colour feet to that of the rest of the sock....

the ball, I agree with you. However no mention is made of ankle socks.....The LOTG mention the 'stocking' part of the sock not the feet. Mere semantics, I know.
Doesn't prove me wrong....
