George - The problem is that the Futsal season has been getting smaller & smaller over the years given Christmas break falls in the Futsal season. We can't really have a week off to allow for Holidays or our finals will be pushed a week later & it's hard enough making sure Futsal commitment don't clash with Outdoor.
It's the same as a earlier post about playing all Men's games at one venue separate to the rest of the club, it has alot of merit so Quake & Syd City can remain on a small court. But firstly should we have the 16s & up & coming players experience a large court to prepare them. Also it is a fact that on SOME of the smaller centres it promotes a very poor style of Futsal. My concern is that slowly a number of clubs have promoted there senior players as Coaches which is a extremely positive move. Is a senior player going to play at one centre then drive to another to coach. What's worse is that if each Senior team plays one centre the Juniors would have to play separate days to allow officials to get to both, that's a big ask for a player to play one day then travel the next day to coach. That's a big commitment giving up the whole weekend for any player....

mrgray, you obviously have no idea as to the internal workings of FNSW over the last 2 years with regards to futsal. DB has done more positive work for futsal in the last 2 years than anyone else in FNSW has over the last 5 years combined. If it wasn't for DB futsal in NSW would be in a far worse state.
Before you attempt to slander someone in the future I would suggest that you get the facts correct otherwise you will end up looking like a goose.
Just modified this post as I have deleted the previous one.

Go Cindy - Very true but the concern is what will happen from here. DB has coached the game of Futsal at a Premier League level & on a few occasions as a State coach. He has played Futsal. He tried to ignite the sport through the F League which lets face it that's not Fnsw job that should be FFA level. But Origionally Damian was a Outdoor enthusiast that caught the Futsal BUG. Is there going to be anyone apart from the clubs that will promote our Game from Fnsw.
I seriously believe far too much time is taken up with the running of Super & Premier League Futsal comp rather than promoting our game & working in the true issues of Futsal & that's the rising costs of court hire & the shortage of centres & the flatline in players coming to Futsal. Local comps need a boost to raise player numbers & clubs that are running local comps need assistance & support finding venues. Majik run local comps in the Mountains & although we will have around 750 - 800 players registered playing Futsal. We will end up turning players away because Basketball which is a dying sport controls the court hire. The Futsal committee is rarely utilised, allow them to run & organise the leagues & get FNSW staff really promoting our game & sourcing court hire.

The only qualification to make is that for the most participating futsal players in Aust with the greatest representation of futsal players at national champs, there are some other people at FNSW Futsal who are also invaluable in their roles- without them & DB, Futsal is dead at both state & national level. On the national front, your comments about FFA taking charge has been yours truly's beef for some time. Correct, it is not DB's or FNSW Futsal role (on their own) to push the F-Level, but something must be done at national level with the push starting from the very grass-roots youre talking about. Lowy & the bureaucrats in FFA should be made aware of & held accountable for their complicit inaction in getting Futsal to compete as an indoor sport against Basketball. Never mind Lowy & FFA's obsession with Aust's failure to host the outdoor World Cup (for the next 28 years), & the subsequent inquiries in that failure. I mean, for such a dying sport as basketball that had been foundering since the Sydney Kings ruined their national comp, how is it that former NSW Premier K Kenneally is appointed head of Basketball Aust??!! It simply shows how poorly FFA has performed AGAIN!!

Is anyone at NSW updating the Futsal section of the website because i can see precious little. No announcement of the changes for nationals....no details of the season launch (if it is indeed happening) and no sign of the fixtures yet with little over a week to go !!!
