Firstly to win Club Championships in Super League or Premier League takes a united club & not individual teams. After building such a culture within the club, it makes perfect sense to utilise such a foundation & take that momentum into your debut Premier League season.
Secondly Mountain Majik is not a new club, in the past 3years players put faith in our club when we were a Super League club. Many, many, many players have been approached by us over the years & those players chose to go to other Futsal clubs.
Also Due to a extremely poor timed Futsal trial window set down by FNSW, Futsal clubs are expected to run trials now whilst players are committed to their outdoor clubs. At a time when many outdoor coaches have formed poorly educated opinions of Futsal, I would hate to be the Futsal club that injures an Outdoor player at an extremely busy time of the year. Players are already over committed with School & rep duties not too mention catch up games.
Finally for all the reasons above - When you have retained 78% of your players, then is trials the answer when you are looking for 1or2 players per age group. As a parent nothing ticks me off more than clubs running a trial, when you are only looking for 1or2 players & we have all seen clubs string players on when not neccassary. Making an educated decision on 1or2 players, when our coaches were named in February giving each coach the past 5months to look to fill there shortfalls is a no brainer. Our Men & Womens Senior players are well looked after so therefore must earn there positions & that's why the decision was made to only retain 3or4 Senior players & look for players to enhance these teams.
Mountain Majik have built a very good Development plan over the years & are using our Academy teams very well as an entry point to our club. For that reason we are having open academy trials & have only retained 2or3 players in some age groups & fully opened trials in other Academy age groups.
As far as some of the posts, everyone has the right too have an opinion & some of those opinions have merit. However in my 27years in Futsal I think one thing I have learnt is surround yourself with extremely good people. Using the knowledge I have gained over the years I have faith that that we have chosen 9 extremely good coaches. It is Imperitive that when you have Coaches that don't get paid, you give them a large scope as a coach in every decision made. I trust that they have chosen the best players available as they did last year when our coaches selected players that took us to the top of Super League Club Championship.
Mountain Majik are under no illusion that Premier League will be tough & would not put ourselves in a position to get RELEGATED simply to show loyalty. We appreciate that out 3x Senior teams will be facing a number of challenges & have not had a chance to develop players in the past 3years, but remember there is 2rounds. However in our Junior age groups we have inbeded a development programme that will make us extremely competitive right up to both u/16s Boys & girls.
As far as Mountain Majik having links with Spartans, out of our 15 Committee members only 3committee members have links with Spartans. My link is like many other parents who drive their kids to training & cook a mean BBQ at Blacktown sports park when it is my turn on Canteen duty. We have no direct link other than the fact Spartans is after all a western Sydney Premier League club. Mountain Majik has also retained 19players from Blacktown City along with a number of Players from Sydney United.
I wish all clubs all the best for the upcoming season & I cannot wait to get back on a Futsal PITCH. Bring it on.....
