Just punt the Men’s National team and save buckets loads of money that’s spent on a team going nowhere. Matilda’s are ranked 4th now so how about tipping the majority in there. Men’s team couldn’t beat an egg! I recall a couple of years ago the Matildas couldn't beat the Emerging Jets boys u15s.....lost by 7 goals if my memory serves me well? When our Men’s team of pretenders are ever ranked as high as the women then all are welcomed to get on their soapbox and start beating their chests. That’ll be never in my lifetime!!!

My son's team won a tournament in u7s but outside of a few family members no one was particularly interested...

There some good players in the squad. It's a difficult situation for any coach to be in. The media expect results but few of them will say it as it is. There might be better players scattered around the world and here but getting the squad together for continual and constant training is a real problem. The coach is behind the eight ball before he even starts.

Whoever gets the coaching gig is on a hiding to nothing...you really have to keep the team playing the same style that they are currently playing as there isn't time to really change....and not all coaches coach this way. I certainly wouldn't want the job.

They were always going to go with an Aussie coach after the World Cup...and I guess he is the best of all the Aussies....

That may not be saying much though Stevie, the Sydney FC ACL campaign thus far has been underwhelming at best and he has some pretty handy foreigners. It's not going to get any easier with the current lot we have wearing the green + gold. I will forecast he won't be there when the 2022 World Cup is played and then blame it in the failures of Project 22!

Arnold, NO!
Still it could have been worse, they could have appointed Paul Okon.
Bet Arnold will try to naturalise some of his imports now.

For sh!ts and giggles i want Bert to make it to the semis of the WC. Then i want to hear why the FFA think Arnie is still the right coach.
Decision aside, why the hell would you announce it now.

Think he's asking as 1. No one is clamouring for Arnold and 2. What if Bert gets through the group and then wins a last 16 match and we are playing great with him? Unlikely but I agree with why at this time as well.

Unlikely but I agree with why at this time as well. 1. I believe SFC were trying hard to keep him...ie upping his pay so the preferred applicant was at risk. Its clear they want a local coach which leaves Poppa and Muscat ( holy crap!!). 2. FFA could never afford Bert - he knows that & they know that. The $1m+ he's getting for his few mths at the helm is pocket money. Could coach in Asia and get $10m per season.
