Any truth to the rumour that a starting player was sent home prior to the semi-final for stealing whilst the players were at a local market place? Then this player was replaced in the line-up by a player who had never played the position before despite there being a player on the roster who is a specialist in the vacant position? If true, then this could have proven to be a major distraction to the preparation of this squad for this important game v Vietnam. I hope that the FFA recognises that junior national teams are 'school kids' and as such, having a qualified coach on the staff that is a school teacher may actually be an advantage. Teachers know how kids behave and can read signs or predict different situations, sometimes before they happen. Huge fan of a coach/PDHPE teacher, Chris Minol. At national school boy level he has a good reputation for success. Perhaps Casserley needs someone give him Minol's number. big statement that coaches, in particular school age players, don't know how to manage kids unless they have a teaching degree? Think he meant it's an advantage to also be a teacher.

True but we have not been successful with the U17's since Kelly Cross, ex-teacher, was involved with Les S in 1999 at the U17 WC. Not saying that it is a MUST but it couldn't hurt to see if it a contributing factor to success.
It's more that teachers work with school aged children 41 weeks of the year so they have experience with how to manage this age group due to this experience; not so much the degree.
Coaches involved in school programs that aren't teachers also have an inside understanding about the maturity level of this age group. e.g. You talk to older players and they understand the importance of the information, have the cognitive maturity to make correct decisions and basically can be relied on to do the right thing.
School kids have what's called a 'will to belong' syndrome or the dumber I can be the more I will be accepted.
From what I have been told, the lad that erred on this recent U15 trip made an uncharacteristic error of judgement. Perhaps this could have been avoided with a person with school student experience...then again, perhaps it may not have been.
Just worthwhile in my opinion to re-introduce someone with school student experience; teacher or non-teacher.

I call bollocks on NT youth development!!!! That's how your traveling Dyslexics Untie Unfortunately Whyme you have a tendency to judge youth development on how your u13s perform - as though theyve already been developed. Talk about 16s, 18s and 20s if you want to talk about development and club culture....Not perfect but much better than 90% of the others. Development is about incremental improvement not poaching the best players year after year and chest beating that they outplayed your team at 13.

Really was it not you who said the sap program players haven't come through as they have learnt skill, technical and game play so this year's 13s have had 3 year's if sap and should be the benchmark of your development, but now is the 16,18, 20s that will show incremental progress. Please I'm starting to think Tim flanery has more credibility than you. You set the goal posts and now that you don't like what you see n hear you want to move them. Lol. Out of context Roger!😁 Think any previous comments have been along the lines of the quality and quantity of players coming through has never been better. "Better" may still not meet your standard...
Performances of U13s/14s/15s age groups can have a lot more to do with their biological time clock than football ability!

Mmm should have checked to see how we are doing over north way in the 16s, 18s, 20s age groups before making that earlier comment....
Phew... quick check all good! 😜

No no, it's the coaches fault for changing the system.
