Hi. How do people see the State Titles, as this would be the first year after an introduction of new youth system (i.e. no more institute, NPL1&2 youth combined etc). Won't be affected by the new system ? Or could there be less interest to play, as this will not necessarily be regarded as a pathway to the institute or other elite pathways ?
On a separate topic, my son enjoyed it so much last year @u14 comp. However we question how many boys would come back to play in U15 comp this year. Appreciate if someone could tell how it was like in the past.

The A-League players wont be trialing (includes CCoast)....doesnt matter great for all anyway. Its football, more football!

Some the of the zones are starting trials this Sunday. So you'll know soon enough what the numbers are like.
But last year there was just one Institute team with 16 players in each age group. Now there are 3x each with each Academy as Tarzan said. If course, as pointed out ad nauseum in other threads the Academy players are by far the best in their age group in Sydney!! So your child won't be competing against them for a spot. Will the scouts be going to the state titles? Of course they will have a look. Maybe they haven't got the best players after all...!!
And maybe some of the current Academy players have recently developed an interest in girls, PS4, X-box or another sport where they might actually make a career and 6-figure income out it.
So by all means - trial for the state titles but most importantly as Tarzan said, enjoy playing football for a week. That is REALLY what state titles is - a week long football tournament.

Sorry Tarzan only WSW & SFC parents have decided now not to trial after being warned that they are already in system (by their clubs) and that if they attend game time will have to be managed to suit additional loads! Many CCM players I was told turned up to Far Nth 14's trials and two were selected!

Metro South had 50 players trial in the 13's and 40 in the 14's! High quality overall also. FNSWI players were not eligible to trial but still had some attempt to previously! All should remember the State Titles is the recognised player pathway set by the FFA and endorsed by FNSW. Yes no institute but still the easiest place to identify players that have gone through selection of the next level from NPL and play in a tournament where the state coach, FNSW coaching department and scouts can assess all in one place! This years State selection will be very interesting as no FNSW run programme conflicting with! Remember all teams generally play at same time in each age group so can only watch one game per weekend maybe two! Very hard to scout and be identified if not playing in these tournaments - no guarantee on selection just cause you made it thou! Much better than all these pay as you go academy tournaments that mean nothing within the game in this country and cant lead to any selection! Unless over 16 at the time and only then limited!

My information confirms 8 trialed just in the 14's! That's half the squad! So 50% or 8 out 16? That's more than the tigers had at same trial and generally in my experience well above what you get from clubs! Generally lucky to see 4 from a club
Shows the great support CCM offer their players and/or how good their squad is to attend?

Only 2 out of 8 made it yet they are top of league?? The team must be park players then? CCM email instruction to players was not to trial because they have something else organised (presumably SFC, WSW, CCM tournament?).

I get your point - wasnt sure if or why only two picked - will ask!
Will be interesting if FNSW endorse any such tournament! And if they dont how clubs going to do it? I think you may find has more to do with KS in CCM same problems when was at other club!

Can not coach in your own childrens age or in the age you are currently coaching! Its surely not possible unless he/she has lied or cheated! - Will get found out and then good luck Must hope he hasn't signed his coaching agreement or at least read!

Perhaps he wasnt the coach but a selector? Regardless of official title he'll be in the technical area at the tournament barking out instructions...like last year.

He should have been warned once and then told to remove himself from the park. That would have scared some of the kids and could have caused a more serious incident. Not to mention the young officials.
