You may be right From what I could see 13s..15s..and 17s girls did dismally last year all wooden spooners.13s won 1 game out of 14.15s Won 1 game out of 14 and 17s drew 3 games out of 14 with no wins.mmmm I know the seniors are always up the top but why the blaise attitude to trials? Surely they need some new players in the younger teams. No wonder Macarthur girls go elsewhere.

Have all premier league 1 clubs finalised teams now? Any shocks with player movements? I hear majic have pull out the big bucks for players incl JG from Sutherland, now the club folded he might have been too quick to make him an offer.
not mentioning names but why do clubs trial development squads? What do they tell the kid?, your not good enough to develop? How about pulling kids in and introducing to futsal and teach them the game ?

In a perfect world there would be a spot for every kid in the development squads. But the reality is we have limited qualified coaches with limited time. The development squads are the feeder program into the rep futsal world, so given limited resources, trials need to be run.

I still don't agree Jabrack,
Trials are in place for kids to be selected into a team, yes academy is the feeder team but so is all the games on Saturday mornings park soccer, I haven't seen any park soccer clubs advertise trials for u10 soccer etc, it's usually parents ringing club asking if any spots vacant for little johnny or sarah and then when little johnny or sarah are in a team in a fun environment, they learn and develop the game and get better and then move on to rep soccer or they decide it's not for them.
So why is futsal different? Why do clubs insist on taking only the best players?
There are a lot of futsal clubs that if done right will take little johnny and sarah that has never played futsal before, make the game of futsal fun for them at same time teaching them , then the club is rewarded as the kid improves.
I would love to see fnsw get behind clubs and run junior games like in park soccer. kiss rolls downhill so unfortunately futsal won't progress in this country on the world stage unless those at the top don't fix bottom end and to start is to get more kids involved for fun like outdoor.

All u10 players ......and u6 players for that matter in "park soccer" that I know of go through a trials process to ensure they are correctly graded - for their own benefit. Are you suggesting Futsal clubs have unlimited coaching staff and unlimited access to courts so that they can take an additional 50+ kids in each age group? If so you are very mistaken.

As others have mentioned park soccer is graded. Its was for me, it was for my son. As for futsal yes clubs like MM have trials for the development squads. They also have 100's of kids registered in social futsal comps as well. They were also running during the off season coaching sessions for the younger kids. These were being attended by the kids who where not usually in the Premier League teams, but wanted to develop.

Reading the posts and I still cannot see the issue or concern with trials for developments squads especially noting that every NPL SAP program (9's-11's) have trials every year. Do not see how anyone can compare PL futsal to park football? Been around the sport for a while and to be honest would struggle to name players in any age group that play park football, all are at NPL level.

Development squads are just a smoke screen to generate more $$$ and nothing more.
More $$$ gives a club better buying power in the senior players marketplace...
It's as obvious as pigeon poo on the washing

It's as obvious as pigeon poo on the washing Totally incorrect from our end TDL. We have our best coaches coaching the young teams. The thinking for us behind the Mini Magician teams is to eventually have 2 teams per age group starting at 8 through to 10s and by the time they turn 11 we only pick from those 20 kids... for our 11s and 12s teams. There will always be a "superstar" that comes to trial but case in point for our 12s this year that this weekends closed trial for the 12 boys, out of the 14 players weve asked to attend 10 of them are from last seasons 11s team.... There isnt that much profit to make to be honest. 9 players @ $600.00 each = $5400.00 After purchase of gear, equipment expenses, referee fees, registration, court hire for training and games, coaching costs if any... trust me it isnt very lucrative at all. Furthermore to my knowledge there are no players getting paid to play in the Seniors.

Mr Gray Should Futsal have in the development squads 10a's, 10b's, 10c's just like outdoor? Waiting isn't a,b,c a type of grading?
