Quite a lot of coverage of futsal in the new FFA Whole of Football Plan. I particularly like "Futsal must be a key component of any player development pathway, particularly, at the introductory and development program level" futsal4all.com/2015/05/australia-whole-of-football-plan/

I read it simply talking small sided football rather than specifically about the indoor game (though that's part of it)

I read it simply talking small sided football rather than specifically about the indoor game (though that's part of it) The plan talks about embracing all forms of football, but suggest you read it again as it is quite specific in calling out FUTSAL (vs other small sided games). Futsal is specifically mentioned a dozen times. For example: " Futsal must be a key component of any player development pathway, particularly, at the introductory and development program level" "In the long term Australian football will develop a separate pathway for talented FUTSAL player’s which allows them to focus on this format of the game and compete at the highest level"

Fair enough, you may be right. The problem with growing futsal is there are minimal facilities and only a few of them meet proper futsal requirements, most were built for basketball and it's unlikely councils or private operators are going to start building them. Outdoor 5 a side fields on the other hand are growing (particularly artificial surface) and it's easy to convert existing fields to 5 a side.Existing State League and PL futsal clubs are struggling with accessing courts and sharing is common.

Well I do know of 3 new major futsal facilities that have been built in the past year (2 in Syd and an 1 in Melb), plus the Whole of Football Plan talked about building new futsal facilities. Other nations in the AFC have or are investing in a lot of new futsal facilities. If they can do it we should be able to. As for the proper sizes, I personally don't see a problem with juniors (15 and under) playing on smaller courts, as long as they are a decent size. They don't need to be 40 x 20.

Let's be honest....this is just a report.....does anyone really think that the FFA will suddenly give Futsal it's appropriate priority?

Yeah I tend to think it was a moment of "oh yeah, we can't leave futsal out of a 20 year vision for football, it's important too just not sure on any detail"

Are you calling V Park a major facility....one court? Yeah I am. Its may not have a lot of courts (2 junior or 1 International) but based on the overall facilities its pretty good. I classify it as major, not on the overall court count, but facilities. Regardless we have 2 new multi court facilities in Wetherill Park and Mt Everlyn, in the past 12 months. I think your point was it was unlikely anyone would build any new futsal facilities.

We need courts not facilities.Multi court often means it's booked heavily by basketball, etc (for which may have been the main purpose?) and futsal restricted. Dont know. Will these course be used by SL/PL clubs....if not then probably doesn't meet criteria and/or booked out by basketball.

I know one SL club plays out of Wetherill Park. We for sure need courts, but also need a top quality facility for F-League and Grand Finals. Valentine meets that requirement.

You were at the grand finals. VSP did not cope at all with the spectator demand. In past years people could enjoy the whole day but due to the standing room only situation many left after each game who would have stayed.

"Facility" would usually imply more than a court? No seating doesn't constitute a facility.

I think the thread was "quite a lot of coverage of futsal in the Whole of Football Plan."
It was then stated that it wasn't specifically mentioned - which was wrong
It was then stated no ones building futsal courts anyway - which was wrong
It was then stated these are really only multipurpose court that baseball are going to book - which was wrong
And somehow the issue is now Valentine Park is too small to handle the crowd - finally someone has got something right!
