FFa ask for views on the future of Australian football, lets start by asking for our money back from the dutch and their system , dutch have never won anything at youth, please dont follow the in fashion spanish "possesion at all cost"system, Look to countries with youth and national success with similar attributes to Australians like, winning mentality, hart and real balls add the technical aspects and you have a now germany style or an Argentine style , technical winning mentality and never say die Teach our kids from young how to head a ball as this is still part of the game Stop appeasing football academics that coach via books and youtube Let kids express themselves and concentrate on developing individual players when young not teams, Let young players be selfish ,be a hog be a showoff have personality all things that in Australia is frowned upon but applauded in other countries when young. Football is an art not a science

I agree with most of your sentiments, except "Football is an art, not a science". It's neither. Its a game.

Soccer in Australia has become a political sport of who you know to advance your kids, coaches arent educated like they are in EUROPE, selected kids dont pay fees to train, no fees for all their training strips, train six days a week, no comp point system up to under 18's, kids are scouted at school soccer into development academies, youth are viewed for their talent for weeks, in different drill work, technique, skills, fitness, aggression, here in Australia, one trail, game play and you either made it or not whether you played elite pyl 1 or 2, terrible system for the youth, too political, standard will never improve unless FFA / FNSW invest in there youth, p22 was a great system for the youth, sap has become a money maker, so many sap teams in the one age bracket, we need to invest seriously in developing our youth, educating our coaches and increasing the standard of football in Australia

Every team and every age should play for championship points. Sport is played to win and every man, women and child knows it. This idea of less pressure for the younger age groups is a gimmick. The kids know whether they are doing well or not. A perfect example of a waste of time are the "pennant" grand finals where the bottom 4 teams play out a semi final series and then a "Pennant GF". So the teams at the top who come 3rd or 4th get nothing but we give winners trophies to the bottom teams. What a load of rubbish.

tarzan,
Are you a supporter of the "Even though we haven't won anything brigade" we still get a trophy ?
Sorry mate, I'm old school and believe when you lose, you lose and when you win, you win. There are no feel good, everybody's happy trophies coming from me. If your team misses the semis by 1 point or goal difference, better luck next year. If you end up stone last, better luck next year.
While I'm at it I also believe that there should be no "rep" football until 13 or 14yrs old. Stay at association and attend academies or whatever training the local clubs and associations have to offer. The idea of paying big money, travelling all over the place and the time factors turn a lot of parents and children off our game. Very, very few ever get through to any decent level of football in this country. The cost of living and supporting a family is becoming a real struggle for the parents and the high cost of our junior game is getting out of control. There must be 100s of gifted kids out there who have parents who cannot afford to pay the fees that these so called rep clubs demand. Then there is no guarantee that the club or coaching will be up to standard. The whole set up needs re thinking.

As I've said many many times before "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing."

One age group, say U15's 10 teams in the comp with varying grades. One team beats another 23-1, so the losing teams club has a whinge to the Association. In all it's wisdom, the association decides that from now on the most goals any team can score on paper is 5. So if the scoreline is 23-1, it goes down as 5-1 and if the scoreline is 6-5 it goes down to 5-5.

Its up there with ash trays on a motor bike.

6-5 = 5=5.
FFA and FNSW mathematics again.
tarzan,
Didn't the Socceroos flog some poor island country by 5000 to 0 a few years ago ? Then the national body added the goals onto the players records. Didn't someone score 7 or more ? Maybe Thompson ? That counted !
