NSW won all age groups except one huge turnaround from last years finals results. Well done to all teams. The U14B Thunder team that played up into the 15s age group played extremely well & only lost on penalties in the semi where they gave 15B Thunder a real scare & after watching the game I believe should have won it was a fantastic game

Oscar G's first effort at Futsal was also a success with the U/12 Girls.
He made some bold decisions in the way he played, and made subs, but they all proved to challenge and improve the girls, even if it caused us parents some angst at the start of the week.
Congratulations to Oscar. The girls all seemed to enjoy their time with him.
I know my daughter really enjoyed her time in his team, and was very happy with the way he looked after her.

Whilst I am in the praise realm...
1. I reckon that the 12 Girls Lightning coach will do great things in the future as a coach. She did a fantastic job with a young team, and you could see how much the girls loved her, making a T sign with their arms (to signify Tiana) after every goal they scored...
2. I thought that despite the fact the organisers couldn't get their act together to have an opening ceremony, the manner in which the event ran at both Dural and Homebush were pretty good, and whilst we may always want to have a shot at FNSW organisational skills from time to time, in this instance they deserve praise and congratulations...

Why would this cause parents some angst? Another bunch of experts?

As one well travelled footballing celebrity said to me, "A cardboard cut out could win a National title with a NSW Thunder team.
Please don't overplay the very very small input coaches had with players that were the cream of the crop.
A "real" coach is the one that can take a team of 2nd or 3rd picks and show up the others...
That's coaching, the other is showboating...
One only has to read the media reports on the FNSW web site to understand who and what it is all about.

That's a bit like saying that a cardboard cut out could coach Sydney FC to a top 2 finish in the A League every year.

Given I have seen Lightning teams defeat Thunder teams many many times I would say its tougher than it looks.

Why would this cause parents some angst? Another bunch of experts? MT, no one claiming to be experts...It was not meant as a derogatory comment. Should have been clearer for those who look for the negative in everything.... Just that he employed the use of making 4 changes at a time during all games every 5 minutes, and in a couple of early games the girls had a bit of trouble with the transition and the opposition took advantage of that... Eventually the girls worked it smoothly, and knew not to just come off all at once if the opposition had the ball...

I agree with jabrack too. Once again TDL shows his total lack of understanding as to what is required of a coach during Nationals week.

Most Thunder teams are expected to win by parents, players and FNSW. Some Thunder teams could win with no Coach present...
