SCE are obviously on the way back up after showing measurable improvement over last years 1st round which saw a 23-0 loss in round 1.
Keep up the good work!

Good point RR sutho played GWS Vikings. 12girls Viking only had 4 players. 14girls only 1 player so forfeit. Long way to travel to mt druitt not to play. My beef is how can clubs take registration money off parents knowing they will not be able to field a full team, not fair and gives the sport a bad name.

FNSW Futsal administer an "elite" futsal competition known as Futsal Premier League. Before anybody gets all upset, go and read what the defination is of "elite". By providing an additional competition such as Futsal Super League, the true meaning of "elite" doesn't exist any longer. By doing so players that would most definitely fall into the "elite" catergory have a choice as to what tier/league they wish to play in. Having said that, players that would not be good enough for a single elite competition now get picked, simply because of the poor competition structure of 2 leagues.. Futsal at the "elite" level is NOT about giving everybody a chance to play whether they are good enough or not. Do away with the Fustal Super League competition, increase the number of clubs in a stand alone Futsal Premier Competition to 10 and then maybe that will be closer to an "elite competition. Once again another sporting code run by buffoons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, expand the premier league comp and drop super league there's obviously not enough depth. Whats the point of 12yr old kids getting beat 33 nil, it's just a money making exercise. There's loads of local comps where players can start out or play socially if that's what they want, super league, premier league is not necessary for everyone.

There is no need to get rid of Super league. What they do need to do is turn the SL into an 8 team comp like Premier league and introduce a Development league for these clubs that want to start in Futsal, dont have numbers, forfeit etc If there are forfeits in the Dev League then that is accepted. U could also send developing referees into this division. There are clearly 4 or 5 strong clubs in SL and at least another 3 competitive clubs. Prime example Mt Druitt, few forfeits, got smashed in a few age groups, now they are turning into a strong developing futsal club. Plus U cant have a 10 team PL comp because then clubs would need to play an extra 4 games and there is no room in calender for that or court space.

It blatantly obvious that the lack of promoting the sport by clubs could well be the end of some. As it stands there are too many clubs and not enough players to go round. I've heard of some forfeits today and most likely the same again next weekend. Whilst low team numbers are great for game time, teams only having 5 or 6 will struggle week in and week out. One only has to take a look at some scores today and see major disappointment is looming for some. 22-1 and 33-0 in Futsal State League says it all and that's probably only the start of lopsided games. If you are getting pumped in State League, what does that say for the future of the sport. I'd hate to think any team played with less than 5 players today. RR, have pondered this post for a few days before responding. I do not beleive that there is a lack of players, but certainly a lack of promotion or networking by some clubs. The quality has to exist. In Football for U/12 girls there were more than 350 players in WPL or WSL. That is enough for 35 teams of 10 players to start with, not counting park footballers. The team I coach had around 25-30 players at our U/12 Girls trial (only 3 who played for us last year), and similarly there were large numbers in other age bands trialling. I still have 13 girls, 10 playing (one 10 year old, five 11 year olds and four 12 year olds) and 3 just training with us on occasions. I have also sent girls to another club, and they are playing against us, and I have arranged contact for players from a regional area to potentially play for this other club in the 14s and 16s girls. The issue is not FNSW's fault either IMO. Clubs have to start recruiting in May/June, not wait til September. I will say lack of venues for training is an issue for the sport, and this is one area that needs support (but not solution) from the governing body.

Many fair points RYB. In saying that there are numbers, sure there are, but every player that plays outdoor knows there is a Futsal competition. Its their choice not to trial or play. The seasons are becoming longer and longer and players are struggling to have a break. Outdoor season finishes the week before the futsal season starts, futsal season starts and within a week SAP, SKILLAROOS, NSWIS trials begin, 2 weeks later outdoor trials begin. I think players need a break and hence why they arent playing. The players are there sure, the number of players wanting to play futsal I think are diminishing. The standard and numbers are definitely down from recent years. But I do admit that clubs can and should do more in rgard to advertising and promoting their respective clubs.

Let us have a little perspective regarding standard and numbers.
GWS Vikings were strong when they had the Spartans connection. That went to Mountain Magic and up they went to PL. GWS lost an influential figure which they failed to replace with any competency and are now paying the price.
SCE advertised that no training was necessary for futsal and are reaping the rewards of that position.
These clubs chose to enter the comp knowing the hammerings they were going to get. They could have pulled the plug.
Plenty of high quality games to be seen in PL 12 and 14.

As for PL, yes there are 4 strong teams, but also a couple of weaker ones. And a reminder that the 12 Girls State Champions were a SL team, who beat 4 PL teams on the way to winning.

Agree that in all SL grades the top few teams would be competitive in PL. They are spread over a few clubs.
Sutho 12's were a good squad with about half still in 12's next year so I hear. Great result.
In SL there seems to be appallingly weak teams spread around the grades and clubs.
Mountain Magic have shown the way for SL clubs that desire promotion. Be strong throughout. They will be safely clear of relegation zone this year.Well done.

Yep, Sutho 12s have ten players, 6 of whom can play again next year in the 12s, and one of those 6 who can play for next two years in the 12s.
